Endre Før Gjermundsen

Endre Før Gjermundsen received his Master degree in Geoscience from the University of Oslo, Norway, in spring 2007. The project for his master thesis was in collaboration with School of Surveying at the University of Otago, New Zealand, where he mapped the most heavily glaciated area in New Zealand by the use of satellite imagery, aerial photographs and fieldwork. The resulting thesis is entitled: "Recent changes in glacier are in the Central Southern Alps of New Zealand - mapped from ASTER satellite imagery" (the thesis can be found here at the bottom of this page).

Except for studying in Oslo and New Zealand Endre has done some of his education at the University Centre in Svalbard and he has also undertaken one year of sport studies at the College of Telemark in Bø.

Endre has always been fascinated by glaciers and alpine outdoor life has been one of his main interests for more than a decade.

In November 2007 he started as a PhD student at the University Centre in Svalbard and his research topic will be on reconstruction of former ice cover on Svalbard.
